DisclaimerOUR MISSION:
Our aim is to compile a directory of free and budget web hosts which is based on real life experience, rather than advertising promises. We try to utilize actual users as much as possible and rely heavily on user feedback in maintaining the list. In general, if our readers like them, they stay on the list. Web hosts are dropped from the list if, in our sole discretion, they don't perform as promised. HOW ARE THE TOP 100 HOSTS SELECTED? All of the top 100 hosts we list have been submitted to us either by actual users or by the hosts themselves. In general, they pre-qualify for a review only if they already host at least 1000 web sites, have been in business for a year or more, and offer what we feel is a minimum standard of services. Overall we are not that thrilled with the quality of most of the free and budget hosting services out there, and we only accept about 20% of those submitted. HOW ARE THE TOP 10 CATEGORIES CHOSEN? Those hosts selected for the Top 10 in each category are individually reviewed, and in many cases anonymous test web sites are actually set up and maintained on their servers. They are then evaluated for ease of set-up, stability, speed, and customer support response time. While we're never completely satisfied with what we find, Nonetheless we try to at least give our readers a fair sampling of current offerings. We choose the ones we feel offer a reasonably good package. However, just because they appear in the top 10 for one category, doesn't mean they score high in the other categories as well. WHO SELECTS THE USER'S CHOICE CATEGORY? In keeping with our user-based concept, the top hosts listed in the User's choice category at the top of the homepage are the hosts most selected by our readers. They are the ones who have actually received the most user sign-ups in a specific time period (either weekly or monthly) In other words, they are the most popular hosts as chosen by our readers. Does this mean they are perfect? No, but if a hosting service can keep 20,000 users reasonably happy, we feel they deserve to be at the top of the list. WHAT IF THE HOSTS DON'T PERFORM? Our experience is that you get what you pay for. If it's free you won't really get that much. But people keep asking so we keep reviewing them. We have zeroed in on a few budget hosts who we can trust to do a pretty good job,and those are the ones we encourage webmasters to use. Often we're disappointed, and that is why the list is constantly changing. If we get a flurry of user complaints about a hosting service, we forward the letters to the host, expect a quick response, and if it isn't satisfactory we will drop them from the list. CAN HOSTS PAY TO BE ON THE LIST? We DO NOT sell rankings on the list. The top spots are chosen only by actual users and our reviewers. We do however reserve the right to accept paid banners from a few select advertisers whose products we feel may be of interest to our readers. We also participate in affiliate programs and reciprocal links with hosting related web sites. NO GUARANTEES We don't make any promises or guarantees as to your own hosting experience. We have never found a perfect budget host and probably never will. Those we like today might not make the list tomorrow. We cannot guarantee the performance of any of the hosts reviewed and merely present the list to help webmasters simplify the hosting selection process and provide a forum for sharing hosting opinions. We encourage each reader to carefully examine the hosting services for themselves, and draw their own conclusions. DISCLAIMER: All reviews presented on this website are based on information supplied by the various hosts, individual reviewers, and actual users. Since the industry is constantly changing, we cannot make any guarantee as to either the accuracy of this information or the actual performance of any service reviewed here. Opinions expressed are those of the individual writers and in no way imply a recommendation by 100 Best Inc. as to the validity or quality of any hosting plans. As the ultimate responsibility lies with the reader, we strongly caution all readers to carefully examine potential companies for themselves before committing any time or money. Readers are encouraged to submit reviews based on their own experiences. |
