Host Name: Tripod Comments: Tripod was good UNTIL you need a service. It's really bad. The response is cold, unprofessional, inaccurate, and missing the points. Either the rep just don't care or she just doesn't understand customer needs. And I am a paying customer. I'm moving to other better provider asap.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: have been using the Tripod site builder since July for a family website. It is very user friendly and I have had no problems with it until now. Recently I am getting an error reading while trying to go into the edit feature on the site: Error During JSP Page Processing. Nobody seems to know what this is or how to fix it. I have emailed customer service, used their I-Mail service for paid members (which I am one, I upgraded my site to a premium site), and they have yet to answer me. I noticed on other boards other people were getting the same error, but could not get help from tech support. Their site is poorly designed in trying to find the tech support as well. Anytime you click a help link it brings you to another list of self help topics which are of no help for this problem. Now, I am faced with moving a site that is about 20mb in space to another free site. I will definately look for one that has a HIGH rate for customer service.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: Not only has Tripod been subjecting users to popup ads, but Tripod is now inserting footers and javascript into the page code of pages uploaded to their servers by members. Popup stoppers are now ineffective. The failed to answer email regarding this issue. I am moving my sites to another hosting service.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: Extras: Tons of goodies including free email, images, guest books, counters, weather, horoscope and more. Strengths: Freebies. Site building tools are excellent Weaknesses: Lack of tech support. Recent sudden deletions of member sites with no notice. Recommendation: Is that tripod has great extras but beware they sometimes delete your site for no reason. It happened to me.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: I am not sure if I am in the right spot but I would like to give your readers a heads up warning about tripod/lycos. I was a paying subscriber{deluxe package} and the service was so horrible and thier support was nonexistent. My site was usually down,The front page extensions did not work, I would spend several days trying to publish a single page and if you were lucky enough to even get a response from support all it would say is We are aware of the problem and our engineers are working around the clock to fix the problem. Well they must have some mighty tired engineers because these problems were never repaired. About six months ago I quit tripod and subscribed to Ipowerweb. What a difference! Ipowerweb is excellent and I would recomend them to anyone. About 5 days ago I went to access my site and what did I get? A tripod error message saying my site could not be found. I could not believe it. I called up my site on several search engines and the same thing. I immediatly contacted Ipower support and they confirmed that my domain was no longer pointing to their server.I went to the tripod my accounts section and discovered that I was listed as having a free site. this just totally blew my mind. I sent a nastygram to tripod support and they emailed me back We are aware of the problem our engineers are...ARRRGH. I just spent 5 days back in tripod hell. My domain is lycos and they are the ones who notified register.com to change my dns back to tripod.I found this out from register.com and still have the letter.I was never consulted nor notified by tripod or lycos that they were going to change my dns. If you are going to review tripod go to their tripod build page, click on help, then click message boards then click tripod. This will take you to the first page of dallah's selfhelp board.Tripods support is so bad the members had to start a forum trying to help each other.now on dallahs first page click on show all boards, then click announcments and news.it is the first link and there you will find page after page of wailing and gnashing of teeth of the victims in tripod hell. All of them crying, where is support? what happened to my site? why can't I publish, I am paying for this! and on and on it goes. you gotta see it to believe it. I really hope I put this in this in right place. People have no Idea how horrible tripod really is. thank you for your time and patience.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: Until the last couple of weeks I would have raved about he quality of the Tripod set up. Fantastic quality and easy to use... Until they took all sites off-line without any prior warning but promises of an improved service. Since then i've been unable to make any alterations to my site. the new set-up seems creaky and unworkable, the help service is worse than useless and I, along with many others am feeling baffled as to why Lycos have reduced their service to a rediculous travesty of its former self. I'm now actively looking for a new platform as my previously lovingly prepared site festers on Lycos. The "fixed" something that wasn't broke, and thousands of loyal users like myself are very angry and upset by their uncaring stupidity. Avoid.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: I had a well-organized and frequently visited site on the Tripod server. all was well until lycos took over. ALL my files were Zapped without any warning, and my attention was drawn to it by visitors who found a blank page. i lost 36 pages of a journal, at least 70 pictures and more. for almost a year i called, emailed, did all i could to retrieve my files to no avail. i was tossed back and forth between tripod and lycos.. i'm not the first. Tripod has outlived its efficiency. i'm back on a hunt. tipod/lycos is not worth it. try something else.

Host Name: Tripod Comments: I have had my website for a week... on the first day the site builder worked.. on the second day it worked.. from then on in I have not been able to access it. I have not been able to change anything on my site. An inquiery submitted via their web form on the site got me an email explaining a whole bunch of stuff I didn`t ask about and mentioning their site builder was down for a short period but is back up and running. That was two days ago. I have not been able to change anything on my site. I highly advise you avoid tripod. They are a pain! |
